Nigel Malkin running for Mayor of West Vancouver in the 15 October 2022 Election

Please use the comment section below and tell me about which West Vancouver Issues are most important to you

56 year old businessman who has lived in West Vancouver for 42 years. Happily married for 27 years with three grown children. I have worked at my family business on Marine Drive since 1978 and been self employed for over 30 years. Over the years I have done thousands of hours volunteering and more recently known for the B-Line issue and bringing forward district issues. I went to West Vancouver Secondary school from 1977 - 1982 and have lived and worked in West Vancouver most of my life. From the 44 years working at the family business on Marine drive and having spoken to many thousands of residents over the years I do feel that I know what the community wants and needs are. My desire to be mayor though is not about myself but about our municipality. For many years I have watched by, as one of the silent majority, usually do and seen poor decisions made by our politicians. Even when there is stiff opposition the decisions are often made to please special interest groups and not the community as a whole.

When the B-Line came up with conditions that were going to have grave consequences for the businesses in Ambleside and Dundarave I decided to take a stand. From attending every council meeting during that time I got to see the inner workings of the municipality and what was occuring at council meetings, I was horrified at what was going on and after B-Line the group started the West Vancouver Community Stakeholders. A group to bring forward issues and get the community involved in the discussion on the items coming before council. We surveyed the residents to find out what they actually wanted and on many issues council were going against what the residents stood for..

During B-Line people wanted me to run for mayor and with no one stepping forward and the election less that 18 months away I have put my name forward to run against our current mayor who has stated she will run again. WVCS has surveyed our subscribers to come up with a framework and a political party for the residents. It is called CIVIX and the party will be fundraising and promoting the principals from our surveys. There will be changes as we move forward but at least we have a foundation. We are seeking candidates to run and will make it simple to do so. All fundraising, electoral requirements and campaigning will be done by the party as we will all have common goals. A lot of the work usually done by the candidates running for Mayor and council will be done by the CIVIX staff.

Please look at the site, make comments and raise issues and most importantly donate to the society. To join is $20.00/Year and we are seeking donations to get the campaign going. You can donate any amount from $10.00 up to a maximum of $1,200.00. This can be done this year and next year but we need to hire a campaign manager and get a lot of work done to get the candidates ready for the campaign.

Thank you for reading this far. Most of our information will go out in video's to make it as easy as possible for you to be involved.

Regards Nigel
